No, when a person tries to send a text to a landline here in USA, it just gets returned with an error message. If it did otherwise, Jim would have written down the code long ago so he could get back into his gmail account. I wonder if there are any other text mode only blind persons who have been locked out. I guess it takes two errors, giving Google your landline number and not knowing about the upcoming change to application specific passwords for alpine mutt and gnus. Text to Landline is only a service for cell phones. It is a cost per call feature, and each cellphone receives a text message if they try to send a text message to a landline phone and then they have to authorize the sending of such messages. This won't work. Getting google voice and having google voice forward texts to your email account and phone calls to your landline number from your google voice number works, but to set this up you need access to google.com which is the problem here. Greg, If I go to that link I only have an option to Get a verification code Google will send a verification code to "my landline number". Standard rates apply. That account is a landline, not a cell phone. It also says "try another way" - but there is not another option listed. So it's a circle that goes no where.
