Asking Questions The Smart Way
by T.V Raman
This hasn't been posted here in many years, so here is a refresher:
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
And here is the relevant portion of the Emacspeak home page:
Before you post a question, make sure you have read How To Ask
Questions The Smart Way. Emacspeak comes with an online manual,
numerous WWW resources, and full source level documentation ---make
sure you've used these resources effectively.

Examples of configuration files.
by Pawel Urbanski
Hi Everyone,
I'm joining the list to get upto speed a bit faster. I spent a few days
reading previous messages or experimenting with changes in configuration.
Unfortunately, I did hit some walls here and there.
I would like to switch to Emacspeak, mainly for coding, to have a kind of
maximally optimized experience. I am not a full-time developer, but used to
code more and still tap these skills to improve day-to-day ergonomics of
how I work.
I would like to ask you the following:
1. Are there any users who share their configuration files? The one by TVR
in the Emacspeak repository is definitely too advance for a newbie like me.
2. I was trying to turn off the voice-lock-mode in the init.el file without
any results. I found an old thread, but maybe it is still my Elisp skills
or Emacs skills that are too limited.
3. Maybe we could collect a few configuration files and create something
like a getting started template?
Thanks for any hints and answers,
Pawel

Voxin speech issues
by Devin Prater
Hi all. I'm having a strange issue I've never had before, and I'm wondering
if this has happened to anyone else.
I'm running Emacspeak from master, but this happens on version 57 as well.
I use Voxin as my TTS engine, although I've compiled DecTalk, just not sure
how to use it with Emacspeak. So, when I start Emacspeak, Voxin is speaking
very quickly, much faster than the rate I have it set to, and the speech is
distorted, with syllables missing. Even when I set the rate to 1, it is
speaking quickly, and still with syllables missing, and sometimes it
doesn't even speak things like "end of buffer" and such. I'm on a
ChromeBook, Version 109.0.5414.41 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) using
Emacspeak through the Crostini VM provided by ChromeOS.
I've tried running the voxin speech server through the servers directory,
but I found no errors. The speech did sound the same though. I don't think
it's a Pulseaudio issue, as TDSR and Orca sound fine. I also tried
voxin-say, but I heard nothing from that. That may be this issue. I'll try
uninstalling and reinstalling Voxin, and see if that fixes anything.
Besides that, does anyone have any ideas, or have experienced this before?

Emacspeak-customize key strokes
by Tom Moore
How can I get a list of valid key strokes when using the emacspeak-customize
application?
The tips page tells that this application can be used, but does not give any
hints as to how to use it to modify settings.
thanks,
Tom
